The Hockey News
Hockey fans are telling the NHL Fans' Association they'd rather play the
game outdoors than expand to Europe. A recent online poll sent to the
NHLFA's 30,000 members revealed 82 percent are against the NHL exploring
expansion to Europe. The idea of an outdoor game (Jan. 1 in Buffalo)
appealed to 84 percent of respondents. Other results were: 43 percent
prefer last year's looser-fitting sweaters, while nearly 29 percent voted to
keep the new ones; 89 percent are in favor of keeping the nets the same
size, as opposed to enlarging them; and, 66 percent approved of the 20-game
suspension given to Philadelphia's Steve Downie while 21 percent disagreed.
