In an NHL Fan Association survey, 29 per cent of respondents were in favor of giving both teams one point at the end of regulation time, with a five-minute overtime for an additional point. Another 29 per cent have no problem with tie games as they are now.
Sixteen per cent were in favor of a shootout and nine per cent wanted overtime until there is a winner. Nine per cent were in favor of three points for a win and one point for a tie. Five per cent liked the declining five-on-five, four-on-four, three-on-three concept. Three per cent wanted no points awarded for ties. The results were based on 2,043 responses at the fan association website (www.nhlfa.com).
