Once-in-a-lifetime Experience for Hockey Fans at the 2008 NHL All Star Game

January 8, 2008
For immediate release

(OTTAWA) - The National Hockey League Fans' Association (NHLFA) online auction for two fans to bid on opportunities to be public relations assistants at the 2008 NHL All Star Game weekend in Atlanta held January 25-27 closes this Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The two highest bidding fans will get the opportunity to help the NHL's public relations department and assist the game's best players as they fulfill media availability. They will also spend some quality private time with the Stanley Cup ®.

Thanks to the NHL, half of the proceeds from the auction, hosted on the NHLFA's Web site at www.nhlfa.com, will be given to the charity Hockey Fights Cancer. The other half of the proceeds will go to the not-for-profit NHLFA.

"The NHL Players Association will outfit the two successful bidders in the same NHLPA clothing that the All Stars will be wearing," said NHLFA co-founder Jim Boone. "CBC Hockey Night in Canada has also agreed to host a behind-the-scenes tour of broadcast operations for the highest bidders. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for two hard-core hockey fans."

The online auction concludes January 12, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The NHLFA was launched in 1998, to give NHL fans a way to express their views on the game and to influence it for the better. There is no charge for membership and to date 30,000 fans have registered via the Association's Web site, www.nhlfa.com. Though not affiliated with the National Hockey League, the NHLFA communicates closely with the League on behalf of hockey fans.
