We're thrilled to announce that our NHL Fans' Association membership
drive has come to a successful conclusion.
With 135 Paying Members as of the March 15 deadline, things looked grim
since we were 65 donations short of the 200 people needed to provide
seed funding for the NHLFA. Then, at the last moment, one of our hockey
fans came through with a clutch performance and offered to provide the
remaining $2,145 (USD) to ensure the NHLFA's survival.
Mati Sauks, an Ottawa member of the NHLFA since 1998, graciously
approached us and made the financial contribution on Friday evening.
Mati is a software architect and a Senators season ticket holder since
the team returned to the NHL 10 years ago.
An enormous thanks goes out to all 135 people (names below) who made the
$33 (USD) commitment to the NHLFA and of course, an even bigger thanks
must be given to Mati. This funding will allow for faster
growth of the NHLFA, with the result being better on and off-line
services and advocacy work for NHL hockey fans.
Our next big challenge is to secure corporate sponsorship for the
Association. We encourage you to suggest the names of corporations
targeting their marketing efforts at pro sports and/or to 18 to 34
males, which is the most apparent demographic trait of NHLFA'ers.
Please send your suggestions to feedback2@nhlfa.com.
Finally, we are very excited that the NHLFA will continue and we hope
you're excited, too. Please continue to spread the word about the NHLFA
(http://www.nhlfa.com/send.asp).
