Member Updates 03/01/02 NHLFA Members Update
|
| |
With only two weeks remaining in our Membership Drive, we have 73 paying
Members or 37% of the 200 people we need to continue the NHLFA. If, on
March 15, we do not have 200 people contributing $33 USD or $50 CDN to
keep the NHLFA alive, it will cease to exist.
A huge thank you to everyone who has committed to helping the NHLFA
survive (your names are at the bottom of this note).
The Membership Drive tactic we introduced last week encouraging
NHLFA'ers to join a Team for $7 was a complete disaster. Only seven
people (again, names are the bottom of this note) signed up as Team
Participants.
This week we are adding a new twist to the campaign. Everyone who
becomes a Paying Member of the NHLFA will be refunded his or her entire
contribution in two years from now as long as the NHLFA is operating
strongly and in good financially shape, which we believe it will be.
This gives us time develop a relationship with a corporate sponsor and
to establish other revenue streams. As one Paying Member told us, this
idea is "almost like a bond issue - invest now, and get your money back
in two years if all is well... if not, then the investment is lost, and
worse, the NHLFA is no more."
We are still committed to returning 85% of your contribution if we do
not reach 200 Paying Members by March 15.
We truly believe that we're on the verge of creating something really
special with the NHLFA, but without some seed money to take this
Association to a higher level, it's going to fail.
For those of you who are curious about where the money you invest would
go, we encourage you to review the 16 Teams we have devised
(http://www.nhlfa.com/thestore/teams.asp) as our most important issues.
Most of the money will be used for two things: to secure a corporate
sponsor and to develop a better, more interactive Web database for
NHLFA.com. We also have to drastically improve the content on the Web
site. We must successfully meet these challenges in order to make the
NHLFA strong. Paying Members will be called upon regularly to help us
make strategic and tactical decisions related to these challenges.
