Member Updates 01/22/01 NHLFA Members Update
|
Hello to all members of the NHL Fans' Association and a special welcome
to those of you who have joined since our last e-mail.
We're now at about 16,500 members and with your help, we're going to
keep on growing. Thanks for all the word-of-mouth promotion you've done
so far. Please continue to spread the word about the NHLFA all over the
Web (in news groups, chat rooms, fan clubs, etc.) so we can reach the
kind of numbers we need to have a real impact on decisions made in the
NHL. You can easily recruit a friend by using this handy link
(http://www.nhlfa.com/send.asp).
It's almost time for the NHL All-Star break, which is the point in the
season where we present our NHLFA Player Awards. Before we all vote, we
must poll you, the members, for your views in three player award
categories: Most Valuable Player, Best Role Model and Best Bang for the
Buck.
Simply send us your nomination for a player in one or more categories by
visiting this page (http://www.nhlfa.com/01222001). We'll then tally up those nominations and send out a "short-list" for all members to vote on. Please get your nominations in to us before January 25.
For those who didn't participate in the Player Award voting last season,
we base our awards on a calendar year and not the NHL season schedule.
The Best Bang for the Buck is awarded to the player who plays at a high
level yet doesn't have an enormous contract.
Here are last year's winners:
- Fred Brathwaite, Calgary Flames, (Best Bang for the Buck)
- Steve Yzerman, Detroit Red Wings, (Best Role Model)
- Jaromir Jagr, Pittsburgh Penguins, (Most Valuable Player)
The NHLFA and Washington Capitals are co-promoting a game for members
when the Ottawa Senators play the Caps in Washington on March 11. If
you're interested in attending this game (10% off for NHLFA members)
please send us a note (senscaps@nhlfa.com). We'll send a
reminder note about this game to members in the DC area as the game
approaches.
Thanks to everyone who has visited and chatted in the new NHLFA bulletin
board/chat room. We encourage all of you to speak up and use The Boards
(http://www.nhlfa.com/boards.html).
Thanks for you ongoing interest and support.
